Conduct quality activities including auditing and clinician liaison to ensure accuracy and timeliness of inpatient morbidity data.
Ensure compliance with ACS, Queensland coding rules, and Queensland Health guidelines.
Inform changes based on audit outcomes within designated timeframes.
Complete Queensland Cancer Registry notifications and collect/flag clinical indicator and audit data as part of the coding process.
Utilize appropriate resources and applications, liaising with team members and clinicians to clarify information as needed.
Identify discrepancies between clinical information systems and patient records and take action to rectify them.
Review the DRG allocation in conjunction with associated information such as length of stay, specialty, and care type to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Requirements
Completed a Diploma in Clinical Coding or a relevant qualification such as a Certificate in Clinical Classification in ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and ACS.
Substantial coding experience across various DRGs within a healthcare or tertiary healthcare facility.
Minimum of four years of full-time coding experience is highly desirable.
Completion of intermediate or advanced ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and ACS Clinical Coding Courses (or their equivalents) is advantageous.
A certificate in Clinical Coding Audit or a university degree in Health Information Management is preferred.
